Suicide
Suicide is the act of intentionally taking your own life. Each year people of all ages and walks of life die as a result of suicide. Thoughts of suicide can effect anyone at any time. It’s really brave for someone to open up and talk about feeling suicidal. No one should have to struggle alone with these thoughts, check out the below organisations for help and further information:
Papyrus
National charity for the prevention of young suicide. Runs HOPElineUK a dedicated suicide prevention hotline for anyone up to the age of 35 or anyone who is concerned about a young person.
Public Health Scotland
Public Health Scotland is the national public health body for Scotland. They have information on suicide prevention including resources and training courses.
Samaritans
Confidential 24 hour helpline by trained volunteers for anyone feeling overwhelmed.
SAMH (suicide)
Scottish charity providing help, resources, information and support around mental ill health and campaigning on behalf of people with mental health problems.
Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide
Offer national helpline, information and peer-to-peer support to all those over the age of 18, impacted by suicide loss in the UK. Help those bereaved by suicide to support each other, at the time of their loss and in the months and years that follow.
