A new home for the Think Positive Programme

The Think Positive programme will be moving to a new host organisation, Student Minds, the UK’s leading student mental health charity marking an exciting new chapter for student mental health in Scotland.
Student Minds brings deep expertise, a strong evidence-based approach and a long-standing commitment to improving student wellbeing across the UK. Their focus on empowering students, strengthening institutional practice and driving systemic change closely aligns with the core principles of Think Positive.
This shared vision makes them a natural home for the programme as it looks to grow its impact in the years ahead.
As part of this transition, Think Positive will continue to centre Scotland’s distinct policy landscape, priorities and institutional context. Its work will remain shaped by students, staff and sector partners across Scotland.
Becoming part of Student Minds strengthens this foundation bringing expanded infrastructure, networks and resources to support the programme’s continued development, while ensuring its identity and focus remain firmly rooted in Scotland.
Together, we believe this move will enable Think Positive to innovate further, reach more students and institutions, and continue driving meaningful, lasting improvements in student mental health across tertiary education.
For the past 17 years, Think Positive has been proudly hosted by the National Union of Students, where it has delivered sector-leading work from pioneering research and national campaigns to training thousands of staff and students, supporting the widespread adoption of Student Mental Health Agreements, and reaching every college and university in Scotland. This legacy provides a strong foundation for the programme’s future.
As NUS has evolved with a renewed focus on campaigning through NUS UK and students’ association development through NUS Charity this transition ensures Think Positive is best positioned to continue thriving in an organisation fully aligned with its mission and ambitions.
Think Positive will always remain part of the NUS family, and we will continue to work closely with colleagues to support students across the UK.
We welcome any questions on the transition and invite you to share these via ThinkPositive@nus-scotland.org.uk
