Suicide Prevention: Enabling Conversations toolkit
The Enabling Conversations Toolkit was recently launched by Suicide Prevention Scotland, in partnership with V&A Dundee.
Co-produced with young people, this free toolkit is designed to guide young people to be able to have supportive, stigma-free conversations about suicide and self-harm.
The toolkit is in two parts. Firstly, it offers practical tips on finding trusted people to talk to, and building confidence to express feelings in ways that feel comfortable. It includes a map designed for use on phones, as well as graphics with steps to getting support.
The second part of the toolkit is for the safe person, because it is recognised that a young person sharing their distress may be very difficult.
This resource could be good for use in colleges and universities, supporting both staff and students to foster an open, compassionate dialogue around mental health.
