Bridging The Gap – Eating Disorder training

What is Bridging The Gap?
Beat is the UK’s leading eating disorder charity, and through funding from the Scottish Government, they are running a free one day online training course called Bridging the Gap.
The course aims to better equip staff to support students with an eating disorder and to recognise the signs so as to help people get the right support as soon as possible.
Life as a student can be an exciting time, but it can also be a time of significant change and pressure. Students who are vulnerable can develop an eating disorder; and students who already have one may find it gets worse.
The college and university environment can mask symptoms and make it harder for students to stay connected to treatment services and their support network.
Delegates will learn skills to increase the chances of early detection and prevent students falling through the gaps.
Who should attend this training?
Bridging the Gap training is specifically designed to tackle these issues by increasing knowledge in university and college staff.
It is however advised that institutions with a majority of students largely under 18 and living at home during term time, it may be more appropriate to attend their free training for school professionals.
Beat advise that if you are unsure which course would be most appropriate for your institution, contact training@beateatingdisorders.org.uk.
