Men Minds – Young People’s Forum
The Men Minds Team are looking for young men to help shape research into mental health. They want to know more about what it’s like for young men with certain experiences:
- Young men who have ever been arrested or had contact with the justice system
- Young men who are LGBTQI+
- Young men who have moved to Scotland from a different country for any reason
If you fit into one or more of these groups, are aged 16-24, and live in Scotland, Men Minds want to you to co-produce this research. They want to work with you to understand what it’s like being a young man and what things might affect your mental health in good and not so good ways. They also want to know what you think about taking part in mental health research and how mental health research can be made better.
What does the Young People’s Forum involve?
The Forum will meet in groups over 18 months. At first the three groups of young men will meet separately but you might decide to all work together later on. The aim is to try to meet in person but online ways of working might happen too. You can tell them how you work best and you will get vouchers or payment for your time.
Men Minds will work with you to make a research project about young men and mental health. You don’t need to know how to do research, they will help you. You can read their information sheet to find out more about the Men Minds project.
How do I join?
There are a few options for you to show your interest in being involved. You can find these by visiting their website. The deadline for this has now passed. Visit their website for more about the work they do.
