Scottish students’ views on gambling, gaming & cryptocurrency
This research was conducted in partnership by Fast Forward, Tackling Gambling Stigma, and RCA Trust and funded by GambleAware.
The survey was co-produced with a network of experts with lived experience of gambling harm and a pilot group of students.
The findings highlight the impact gambling has on students in Scotland – both their own gambling, and those close to them who gamble.
45% of students said they would be confident in knowing where to refer a friend for support around harmful gambling.
The report also indicates that Scottish students want more communication from their college or university around gambling, and more education about the nature of gambling harms and risks.
The report contains responses from students on specific support they would like to receive from their institution.
It also makes a series of recommendations and offers potential strategies for gambling harm prevention to be implemented in colleges and universities in order to support students.
