Coming to College can be an exciting and rewarding experience, but it can also provide extra challenges and stress, which may affect your physical and mental wellbeing. If you’re going through a difficult time and are feeling anxious, it’s important to ask for help and support. In addition to the support provided by your Guidance Tutor, you can also receive one-to-one emotional support from the Head of Student Services, Depute Head of Student Services and Guidance and Support Advisors.
What Support is Available?
- Free student counselling
- Weekly mindfulness classes
- Free weekly yoga classes
- One to one support from Student Services and Guidance Tutors
- Dedicated Student Support and Student Association emails
- Online Report and Support help articles available via the Student Portal
- Student Microsoft Teams page for various events and activities
Students can access support in a number of ways such as making a face-to-face appointment with a member of our Student Services team, emailing them at student.support@slc.ac.uk, calling 01355 807780 and requesting Student Services or requesting a referral through their lecturer.
Student Service support is available term time Monday to Friday from 8:45am to 4:30pm.
Staff throughout the College are trained in Mental Health First Aid and ASIST – suicide intervention and prevention.
