University of Abertay
The Counselling and Mental Health Service is within Student Services and is free and confidential for all Abertay students.
Counselling is an opportunity to explore issues that concern you without judgement. Sometimes life at university can be full of challenges.
If you are feeling overwhelmed in anyway, please come and talk to the team. Here are just some of the issues students have brought to us: –
- Homesickness
- Feeling low
- Anxiety
- Stress
- Relationship difficulties
- Loneliness
- Self esteem
- Panic attacks
- Mental health issues
The service offers three different modes for appointments: face-to-face (on campus), virtual (using Microsoft Teams), or through telephone – the choice is yours.
The service also includes a Mental Health Nurse Advisor (RNHM) who can work with you if you are experiencing or are concerned about any diagnosed mental health issues.
How do I make an appointment with a counsellor?
- Email counselling@abertay.ac.uk , make an appointment through Abertay Connect, or speak to staff at the Support Enquiry Zone (SEZ) on Level 1 of the Library.
- You can also make an appointment with a general student advisor by emailing advisory@abertay.ac.uk or accessing Abertay Connect.
- If you need support out-of-hours, please check this list of resources.
Support from your Students’ Association
We offer a safe space to discuss issues you may be facing and can provide you with information and guidance on how to access the services available within and beyond the university (e.g., Abertay University’s counselling service, local charities, etc).
You can email saadvice@abertay.ac.uk, hello@abertaysa.com, or come to our office on the ground floor of the Bernard King Library, through the glass doors.
More information on the support available to students can be found on the Students’ Association website and the Abertay University website.
