West College Scotland
West College Scotland has the wellbeing of our student community at the heart of everything we do.
Our Wellbeing Matters Service promotes the positive physical and mental health, wellbeing and safety of our students. Our students have access to a range of support services including one-to-one counselling, wellbeing support, mindfulness classes, sport and physical activities, safeguarding services and more.
What Support is Available?
- Time 4 U Counselling Service – Our free, confidential, professional counselling service, offering one-to-one counselling with a team of qualified and experienced counsellors.
- Student Wellbeing Service – Our Student Wellbeing Advisors offer short-term practical and emotional support and guidance to students on any issue affecting their studies and/or mental health and wellbeing. Our advisors organise awareness raising events on campus to promote local and national initiatives, around issues such as men’s mental health and gender-based violence. The college is currently undertaking the Emily Test Charter.
- Safeguarding Service – We have a commitment to safeguarding our students. This means we have a set of procedures and practices, grounded in law, policy and our values, that aim to keep our students safe from a wide range of potential harms, including abuse, neglect or risk to life.
- Active Campus – Our Active Campus Co-ordinator promotes positive physical and mental health and wellbeing by providing a variety of sport and physical activities on campus. Activities include yoga, football, netball, table tennis and a walking group.
- CALM Connections – We offer mindful meditation sessions to our students. Sessions are available in person and online.
- CALM Curriculum – We offer a stress management groupwork programme, based on mindfulness and relaxation techniques.
- The Green Room – Located on each of our campuses, we have a provision of essential items available including food, toiletries, and clothing.
- The Sanctuary – A neutral space on campus where students can go for peace, contemplation, thought and prayer.
You can find more details about the support offered by the college on the West College Scotland website.
