Men Minds Project: research updates & publications
Men Minds is a research project focused on improving mental health outcomes for young men aged 16–24 who often face significant challenges in society.
The project has centred on three key groups: young men in conflict with the law, migrants, and those identifying as LGBTQ+, recognising the distinct barriers they may face when accessing mental health support.
By involving these young men directly in the research process, Men Minds aimed to co-produce meaningful change and develop more inclusive and responsive mental health services.
A core part of Men Minds has been the Young People’s Forum, where participants have helped shape the research to ensure their experiences guide the project’s direction.
Publications
Men Minds have recently published a new comic. The stories in this comic are based on real-life experiences that have been shared during the research, although the characters are fictitious. By sharing these stories, Men Minds hopes to reassure young men that they are not alone.
Staff in colleges, universities, and students’ associations might consider printing the comic and making it available in different spaces on campus. This resource can also be a starting point for discussion with students, and there are suggested prompts at the back of the comic to start those discussions.
Research updates
Men Minds are holding an event which staff in colleges, universities or students’ associations may also find useful. They will share and reflect on the findings from the research they have conducted over the past two years.
