PHS Briefing gambling and suicide
Public Health Scotland has produced a briefing about the link between gambling and suicide.
This briefing is aimed at professionals and practitioners in Scotland who require further information on gambling and suicide. This could include staff working in colleges, universities and students’ associations.
A person experiencing gambling harm may notice a negative impact on their mental health, including low self-esteem, stress, anxiety and depression. There’s also a strong link between those living with a gambling addiction and thoughts of suicide.
Public Health Scotland has a series of resources relating to gambling harm in Scotland, including:
- A Public Health approach to gambling harms research briefing
- Measuring gambling-related harms – a framework for action.
